CANNABIS EN EL DOLOR CRÓNICO INTRATABLE CAUSADO POR RETROPULSIÓN DE IMPLANTE METÁLICO CERVICAL: REPORTE DE CASO

Resumen

In spine surgeries, especially cervical ones, techniques and approaches are adopted to minimize risks of injury to surrounding structures, aiming to assist in the precise placement of metallic implants and avoid damage to these structures. Esophageal injury associated with cranial neuropathy could result from a complication secondary to injury or surgical intervention in the cervical spine. The project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee (CEP) Leide das Neves Ferreira, under opinion number 6126359. This article is committed to presenting, in the form of a case report, a case of cervical root compression undergoing surgical treatment, which evolved with postoperative complications involving chronic pain, esophageal injury by synthesis material, and loss of function caused by cranial nerve injury. Considering that the therapeutic effects of the Cannabis plant involve analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective actions, this was the proposed and performed treatment for the case. The authors define as the primary objective to discuss the possible therapeutic effects of Cannabis in a rare case of intractable chronic pain, esophageal injury, and cranial neuropathy after surgical approach in the cervical spine.
