The climate crisis points to a paradigm shift that has been announced for a long time.The future will be sustainable.The UN sustainable development Agenda 2030 systemic addresses the socio-environmental issue, pointing out possible paths in the search for confronting and overcoming the greatest and main challenges of our civilization. Hemp reemerges as an important tool that promises to leverage a new model of sustainable economic development. This article is a literature review that synthesizes the state of the art of hemp law in Brazil and presents a summary of its history. The lack of a national hemp legislation delays the country's growth compared to the world hemp market. The diverse applications of sustainable hemp are in line with the 17 SDGs of the 2030 Agenda and offer tools to help facing the most severe problems of contemporary civilization.
